If You Could Save Just One, led by our founder, Natalia Gutierrez, acknowledges that youth in NorthEast Spokane still face ongoing challenges that demand our attention. Our primary goal is to provide support to prevent these challenges.

We know that creating spaces for judgment-free connections with peers and adults has the potential to positively influence a young person's life. Connection and a sense of belonging can keep kids and teens safe, engaged, less likely to use drugs or alcohol and more likely to complete school. Our founder has worked diligently to establish local connections that can be instrumental in supporting youth.

We've established a network of incredible staff, partners, community members, college students, and high school graduates who contribute to our community efforts. Their dedication creates a full circle of support and empowerment.

Just One's programs focus on making learning exciting and non-traditional, enabling youth to explore their real interests, have the chance to experiment with talents, feel safe in relationships with others, and find independent and creative paths of discovery that aren’t like school. Independence and creativity are at the core of our initiatives, fostering the growth of skills and confidence while navigating life.

All of Just One's programs are free of cost to participants.

Calendar – Find Activities and Events

Explore our schedule of events and discover exciting activities for your youth at Just One. To get started, create a parent account, and add your youth to the roster. This streamlined process ensures you can easily register your child for various events and programs. However, if you're signing up for community service opportunities, no parent account is needed—simply apply directly for the event. Joining our community-focused initiatives has never been more accessible!

During the Pandemic

Even during the COVID-19 pandemic, Just One found ways to stay connected with youth and families. COVID-19 restrictions closed our building and paused in-person programming and mentorships. We pivoted by delivering Projects-in-a-Bag, monthly front-door deliveries tailored to each youth’s interests  (i.e., art, cosmetology, fashion, and science, gardening), complete with instructions to continue engaging our community. We launched online classes (including yoga and meditation, coding, technology, and more). We checked in and kept youth and families engaged. We use this program during Thanksgiving and as a back up plan for summer programs.

More Info On Our Programs

To meet the growing demand for our free programs, we sometimes limit advertising through platforms like Facebook, Instagram, or school portals until we confirm capacity.

Your support in spreading the word about our mission is invaluable and helps ensure we can continue offering these FREE resources.

Just One is located in Spokane’s NorthEast neighborhoods, and while we focus primarily in NorthEast, our genuine concern for the well-being of all youth extends across Spokane and beyond. If you live outside of our ZIP code and wish to engage with Just One, please don't hesitate to participate but know some activities will be limited, please contact us. We will find creative ways to connect and provide support to the best of our ability.
